The lubricant business was started under the company name, DeSeMe S.A., in 1987, by Diego Ariztegui to provide specialty synthetic lubricants for industrial and automotive use. In 1992, DeSeMe S.A. signed an agreement with YPF S.A. to develop the synthetic lubricants market with the first 100% synthetic lubricant for automotive use in the Argentinian market.
The Anderol®/YPF (Anderol 800) exceeded compliance standards which were the highest and most stringent performance standards of those days. It revolutionized lubricants and was suggested for use at 10,000 km., against 3,000 km. At that time, it was the first synthetic lubricant approved for use in gas engines. Anderol® created a new way to promote the lubricant and DeSeMe made presentations nationwide providing information on lubricants, safety courses in management, technical information for industry specialists. This had not been done before.
